RFK Jr. Claims BRICS Formed Due to U.S. Weaponizing Dollar

RFK Jr. has claimed that the BRICS economic alliance was formed in response to the US "weaponizing" the dollar.

He argues that the US has used its control of the dollar to impose economic sanctions on countries

that it disagrees with, and that this has led to the creation of BRICS as a way for these countries to reduce their reliance on the dollar.

There is some evidence to support RFK Jr.'s claim.

For example, the US has imposed economic sanctions on Russia, Iran, and Venezuela in recent years.

These sanctions have had a significant impact on these countries' economies,

have led to calls for them to diversify their currency reserves away from the dollar.

However, it is important to note that there are other factors that have contributed to the formation of BRICS.

For example, the BRICS countries are all emerging economies with large populations, and they are looking to cooperate on issues such as trade, investment, and development.

Additionally, the BRICS countries are all located in different regions of the world,

they are seeking to counterbalance the influence of the US and other Western countries.

It is therefore too simplistic to say that the BRICS was formed solely in response to the US "weaponizing" the dollar.

However, RFK Jr.'s claim does highlight the importance of the dollar in the global economy,

the potential risks of using it as a tool of economic coercion.

In terms of whether BRICS will replace the dollar, it is too early to say.

The BRICS countries have not yet created a single currency that could rival the dollar, and it is unclear whether they will be able to do so.

However, the BRICS countries are increasing their cooperation on economic issues,

they are likely to continue to challenge the dominance of the dollar in the global economy.
